Our Mission
Christian Outreach was established with the hope of making a difference
in the lives of hurting people…especially the children.
Melinda and I have been blessed over the years in our many endeavors.
And while traveling this great country of ours we’ve had the opportunity
to witness some of the many triumphs of man…
…and we have also witness mans many failures.
We have seen the young mom and dad providing a makeshift home for their newborn child in the remnants of an old abandon school bus.
We have seen on the streets the homeless families… not just men… but women and children… homeless and with little hope.
We’ve seen our older folks locked away and neglected as if they have no value.
We’ve seen runaway teenagers living on the streets hopeless with no where to turn.
We’ve seen children bath in a river in front of the cardboard hut they called a home.
We’ve seen children who had been abused… neglected… and out of hope.
Children…cold…and shivering…
with little hope of a decent meal…
or a place to lay their heads for the night.
It was now my turn…my turn to answer the question…
What are you going to do about it?
Christian Outreach Ministry began April 1999.
It was the hymnist Charles Wesley who defined the practice of
Christian charity by these immortal words:
Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.
We took Wesley’s words to heart when we started this ministry.
Since its beginning…Christian Outreach with the prayers, resources and patronage of our community has help thousands of people… well over 500 families a year.
Christian Outreach helps with:
food… clothing…household items…and toys for children.
We try to minister… motivate… encourage… and share the love… mercy… and forgiveness… of our Lord and Savoir… Jesus Christ…
to all those the Lord sends our way.
Everything that you do… everything you say… makes a difference to someone.
Albert Einstein reflected on the purpose of man’s existence when he said.
Strange is our situation here upon earth… Each of us comes for a short visit… not knowing why… yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose.
From the standpoint of daily life, however… there is one thing we do know:
That we are here for the sake of others, for the countless unknown souls
with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy.
Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life
is built upon the labors of people both living and dead…
and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return
as much as I have received.
Christian Outreach is the direct result of the Christian values that were
learned at my mother’s knee.
It was the way she lived her life… always reaching out to those in need… that made me realize that miracles are not all that mysterious or impossible to achieve…
A miracle is the small thing you do…
that makes a BIG difference in someone else’s life.
She taught us … from what we get, we can make a living, but it is what we give…
that makes a life.
One day… the Lord sent a special little girl our way… a little girl who was only 2 years old… her short life was filled with verbal… and physical abuse… and her little leg was broken…and we would adopt that little girl.
It was our turn again to answer the question…
What are you going to do about it?
And she has been just the biggest blessing that you could ever imagine…
Her name is Amanda Anne.
In preparing for the adoption of Amanda… we learned of the great need… for foster parents to provide temporary homes… for kids that are taken into state care…
and we became foster parents…
We had Amanda a little over a year when Melinda said… Amanda needs a baby brother.
I really didn’t know how to respond… so I petty much kept quite.
About a month or so later we were asked to take in a baby boy… just one day old… and he is a real blessing also…his name is Austin Robert… Amanda’s baby brother.
Two more boys would find a permanent home with us…Johnny and Joey…and they are a real blessing too.
I would now like to share with you a letter from Sarah …that really brings home why we do… what we do.
My name is Sarah
I am but three,
My eyes are swollen
I cannot see,
I must be stupid
I must be bad,
What else could have made
My daddy so mad?
I wish I were better
I wish I weren't ugly,
Then maybe my mommy
Would still want to hug me.
I can't speak at all
I can't do a wrong
Or else I'm locked up
All the day long.
When I awake I'm all alone
the house is dark
my folks aren't home.
When my mommy does come
I'll try and be nice,
so maybe… I'll get just
One… whipping tonight.
Don't make a sound!
I just heard a car
my daddy is back
From Charlie's Bar.
I hear him curse
my name he calls
I press myself
against the wall.
I try and hide
From his evil eyes
I'm so afraid now
I'm starting to cry.
He finds me weeping
He shouts ugly words;
He says it’s my fault
that he suffers at work.
He slaps me and hits me
And yells at me more,
I finally get free
And I run for the door.
He's already locked it
and I start to bawl,
He takes me and throws me
against the hard wall.
I fall to the floor
with my bones nearly broken,
and my daddy continues
with more bad words spoken.
"I'm sorry!” I scream
But its now much too late
His face has been twisted
Into unimaginable hate.
The hurt and the pain
Again and again
Oh please God, have mercy!
Oh please let it end!
And he finally stops
and heads for the door,
While I lay there motionless
Sprawled on the floor.
My name is Sarah
and I am but three,
Tonight my daddy
murdered me.
There are many kids out there… just like Sarah.
And you can help.
Thousands of kids were neglected or abused last year in the state of Georgia alone.
We encourage all who might be interested in foster care or adoption to call their local DFCS office.
I believe there’s a special place in hell for those who abuse children…
And I believe there’s a special place in heaven…for those who help them.
Mother Teresa is quoted as expanding on the scriptures saying…
At the end of life… we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received… how much money we have made… how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by… ‘I was hungry… and you gave me to eat… I was naked… and you clothed me… I was homeless… and you took me in.’
Hungry not only for bread… but hungry for love… Naked not only for clothing… but naked for human dignity… and respect... Homeless… not only for want of a room of bricks… but homeless… because of rejection.
Let us leave you with you this thought…
When you were born… you cried… and the world rejoiced…
Live your life… so that when you die…
The world cries… and you rejoice.
One day we all must answer the question… What am I going to do about it?
And one day we will all share in and participate in the success of these children…
And likewise we will all share in and participate in their failures…
God Bless
Bob & Melinda Morgan
We can make a difference in their lives.
